There are two times of the year that I look forward to the most – the twice yearly Sephora sale! I always seem to forget that because the sale is in April, this is the reason that I manage to run out of everything around this time. I feel like everything I use daily is running out like crazy – I’m ready to receive everything I picked up online this past Friday.
When it comes to lip products I am most certainly not a “balm” person. During the day I’ll grab a lipstick or a gloss to wear to work. But when I come home and take off my makeup the one thing I make sure to do is moisturize my lips. Lately I’ve collected a few that I absolutely love and wanted to share.
One of the biggest things I take pride in is my ability to do great makeup. I spend hours playing around, trying different things and incorporating subtle differences in my daily routine. Being able to incorporate different colors and makeup formulas is always so fun for me. Last year I dipped my toe in the BECCA palette world when I picked up the BECCA X Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette and I fell madly in love with it. I love doing a good bronze glowy look, and this palette gives you all that and more.
Recently I was checking out some videos by one of my favorite YouTubers – Alex Garza – and she mentioned that she did a collab with FabFitFun’s in house makeup line, ISH. For those that don’t know, ISH stands for I’m Smoking Hot. I thought the name was super clever. But Alex went on to talk about a product she worked on, the Lip Statement Palette. It is a palette full of lipsticks that can easily be blended together. I own nothing like this, so I decided to track it down and pick it up.
Growing up one of the things I struggled the most with was my hair. I have very dry, coarse hair that is INCREDIBLY curly. I never really learned, nor cared to learn how to work with the curl. I just wanted it straight. When I was heading into college straighteners were just becoming popular and more technologically advanced. It took me forever to learn how to straighten my hair myself. I just kept wishing I could have a blow out at home.
I love following influencers on social media. I am one of those incredibly impressionable millennials who purchases something based on the suggestion of something I see on Instagram. I don’t consider this to be a bad thing at all – this is one of my favorite things about social media (although I imagine my wallet would beg to differ…). Recently I saw a few people I follow brag about the CO2 Lift and I knew I had to try it.
Like most people who follow Tarte, I got that exciting email that they were releasing the Shape Tape Foundation. Considering I absolutely love their concealer, I just knew I’d have to try their foundation. I ordered the foundation almost the minute it came out. It comes in two versions, matte and hydrating. I picked up the matte in light neutral.
Recently I was sent a complimentary sample of Perrincone MD’s Cold Plasma+ Face moisturizer for testing purposes. I was SO excited because I’m a big fan of the brand, and I wanted to give this product a try. There are many claims listed in the literature, and I haven’t been using it long enough to say if I think they’re all true, however, I am a happy camper with what I’ve experienced so far.
If you’re like me – your skin care needs change as many times as the seasons do. Recently, I tried a new product early on in the winter, and it completely burned my skin. I was red and scaly and it hurt really bad. I didn’t know what to do because I couldn’t even wear makeup at that point. I was even prescribed a cream to help with the burn, but it didn’t help.
It has been one long year. I’d say 2017 was just OK – but I’m absolutely thrilled we are now in 2018. I’m ready for a fresh start and to reconnect with passion projects I’ve been working on. Getting back to painting, practicing calligraphy, and writing about my obsession with fashion and makeup. Reflecting back on the past year, I fell deeply in love with experimenting with different types of makeup – foundations, blushes – you name it, I tried it.
