A while back I posted a review on our food delivery service, Hungryroot. Since I posted last, the company halted all deliveries for several months to reboot their procedures, so we only just re-subscribed. While we’ve had a few snags lately, overall my boyfriend and I absolutely LOVE and have come to depend on this service.
We have a recurring order for the Starter Set ( 3 meals of 2 servings each, plus 4 sides, snacks or sweets) and we get to pick what we receive each week. The options are so much better than they used to be and there are so many that we enjoy eating over and over again. (Give the cheesy butternut squash fries a chance – you won’t be sorry!) As someone who avoids both dairy and gluten, this service is just perfect. Everything is vegan and has all natural ingredients and is perfect for my sensitive dietary needs. This couldn’t be a better fit for me.
Previously everything was also vegetable based, but it was all spiralized and spoiled quickly. That is no longer the case anymore and to be honest it works even better than it did before. When the box arrives at your door it is packed in a box with thick insulation and ice packs. We get everything into the refrigerator and then we look over the little instruction book that comes with the food to see what we want to make.
Everything takes 10 mins or less and it couldn’t be easier. We throw everything into a skillet with what is provided to us – add water and olive oil and we are good to go. We add protein to ours but you don’t have to do that if you don’t want to – it is excellent as is. In Part II I plan to share our favorite recipes and also some that we have created with what was sent to us.
Please know that everything I have said is 100% because I genuinely love this service and have no relationship with the company. It is truly that good! Click here if you are interested in learning more about Hungryroot!
